Door frame and jamb repair across the DMV
The frame fails before the door does. A strike plate screwed into soft wood pulls out, a jamb splits where a door was forced, hinges tear loose because the screws only ever went into the casing, or the bottom of an exterior jamb rots from years of rain splash. The door then rubs, will not latch, or will not lock.
Or call or text (240) 616-4788. Hours 8 to 6, Monday through Saturday.
How the job goes
Most jambs can be saved. We epoxy and dowel the split, drive long screws through the hinge side into the framing, reset the strike with a backer, and plane the door where it binds. A jamb that is rotted or shattered gets cut out and a new section scarfed in, or the whole leg replaced, then primed and painted so you cannot find the seam.
Jobs we take
- Split jambs from a forced or slammed door
- Strike plates and deadbolt keepers pulled out of the wood
- Hinge screws that spin and hinges sagging
- Rotted bottoms on exterior door jambs and brickmould
- Doors that rub, stick or swing on their own
- Full jamb replacement where repair is not worth it
What it costs
Frame repairs are priced by the visit. Most of them, a loose strike, sagging hinges, a split that takes epoxy and a few long screws, fit in one stop and come in at the visit minimum on the hub price list. A rotted exterior jamb that needs a new section is a longer job and the estimate says how long.
