Carpentry repairs in Anne Arundel County, MD
Anne Arundel County is where the crew already has finished door jobs on the books. A front door repainted and a closet door rehung in Annapolis, a bedroom window resealed on a two house visit, both this year. The humidity off the bay swells doors every summer and rots sills and jamb bottoms faster than anywhere else on our map.
Or call or text (240) 616-4788. Hours 8 to 6, Monday through Saturday.
Swollen doors and rotted sills near the water
Severna Park, Arnold and Pasadena houses near the water get the worst of it. Storm doors pitted and sprung, exterior jambs soft at the bottom, trim at the garage split from the sun. Glen Burnie and Odenton have the 60s ranchers and the newer townhomes, where the calls are sticking interior doors, bifolds and rails that were never bolted to anything.
Doors near the water in Annapolis, Edgewater and Pasadena swell every July and shrink every January, so planing a door at the wrong time of year is how you end up with a drafty door in winter. We take the minimum off, seal the raw edge the same day and reset the weatherstrip so it still closes tight when the wood shrinks back.

Anne Arundel County door and rot questions
- Why does my door only stick in summer?
- Humidity. The door takes on moisture and grows a sixteenth of an inch, which is enough to rub at the latch side. Sometimes the fix is resetting the top hinge, not planing. We check the hinge first, plane second, and seal whatever we cut.
- Can you replace the rotted trim around my garage door?
- Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs in the county. The bottoms of the side jambs and the weatherstop go first. We cut back to sound wood, put in PVC that cannot rot again, seal it and paint it to match.
- Do you handle a house getting ready for a rental inspection?
- Yes. The Anne Arundel rental license inspection looks at rails, guards, doors that lock and windows that open. Send the inspector's list and the address, and we price the whole list as one visit where it fits.
