What door repair costs
Door repair is priced by the visit. A front door repainted and a closet door rehung in Annapolis came to $150 this August, labor and materials, one stop. If you have three doors with problems, say so when you text, so one visit covers all of them and the price reflects one trip.

What moves the price
- How many doors in one stop matters more than which repair. The drive and the setup are the same for one door or five, so a list of small door problems is the cheapest way to buy a visit.
- Hardware you supply is free to install. Hardware we supply is on the materials line at what we paid, and we carry common latches, hinges and sweeps on the truck.
- Exterior doors take longer than interior ones because the fix includes sealing the planed edge and checking the threshold and the weatherstrip so you do not trade a sticking door for a drafty one.
- Old solid doors in DC rowhouses and Baltimore County brick houses are worth more work than a hollow core slab, so we repair them rather than suggest a swap.

Cost questions
- Is there a minimum for one sticking door?
- Yes, the visit minimum on the hub price list. It is the same whether we fix one door or four, so walk the house before we come and write down every door that bothers you.
- Will planing the door make it drafty in winter?
- Not if it is done right. We take off the least wood that frees the door, seal the raw edge the same day and adjust the weatherstrip so it still touches all the way around. Most swollen doors need the top hinge reset, not planing, and we check that first.
- Can you rekey or replace the deadbolt while you are there?
- Replace, yes, and we carry Kwikset and Schlage grade deadbolts. Rekeying to match an existing key is a locksmith job and we tell you that on the phone.
